FAQ’s

What do you have to do to become a police officer?
The Indialantic Police Department, like most police departments within Brevard County, utilizes the facilities at Eastern Florida State College, Police Academy Testing, to obtain a list of prospective police officers. You must be on this list in order to be eligible for employment with the Indialantic Police Department. If you are on the list and wish to let us know about your interest in our agency, send a brief letter indicating your eligibility and your desire to be considered for any openings that we might have available. Please do not come to the police department requesting an application as there are none available. Our address is 220 Fifth Avenue, Indialantic, Florida, 32903. Telephone (321)723-3512.

How do you get in the police academy?
Contact the Brevard County Law Enforcement Academy for information on becoming a police officer and entrance into the police academy. The police academy is located at the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College, located at 3865 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, Florida 32935. EFSC also houses the Brevard Police Testing and Certification Program for applicant testing and assisting out-of-state law enforcement officers who wish to relocate to our area. The Criminal Justice Center can be reached by telephone at (321)632-1111.

How do I apply for a position in the Communications Center?
Applications for full or part-time dispatch positions are only accepted when there is an opening.  When an opening is available, applications may be downloaded from our web site or you may come in to the Indialantic Police Department main entrance and request one from the dispatcher. You will be contacted if a position becomes available for which you are eligible. If you move or change phone numbers you should call to update your application.
