The Town of Indialantic operates under a Town Council form of government. The Mayor and four Council Members, each having a term of two years, are elected on a nonpartisan basis. The Town Council is responsible for formulating policies, enacting ordinances to carry out those policies, setting tax rates and approving the annual budget.
The Town Manager, appointed by the Town Council, is the chief administrative
officer of the Town and carries out the goals of the Council through management of the
Town staff.

This Department provides administrative support for the Council, Boards and Committees and
other departments, supervises all municipal elections, issues occupational licenses,
coordinates the financial operations of the Town and is custodian of the Town's official
records.
POLICE DEPARTMENT ..........

The lndialantic Police Department provides general law enforcement in the Town. The
department of ten sworn officers and Police Chief supports drug and alcohol use prevention
programs, bicycle safety programs, crime watch and gun safety.
FIRE DEPARTMENT .......................................[return]
The Indialantic Fire Department, made up of six paid firefighters, the Fire Chief and
fifteen active volunteers, provides fire prevention and fire suppression programs. The
Department, staffed with certified Emergency Medical Technicians, also provides
advanced life support and paramedic services
BUILDING DEPARTMENT .............................[return]
The Building Department receives and processes all applications for building permits and
provides inspections for all construction activities to assure compliance with Town
ordinances as well as the Standard Building Code. This Department also provides general
code enforcement activities.
PUBLICWORKS

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance of all Town streets, storm
drainage facilities and Town parks. The Department also maintains the public beach area as
well as public buildings and grounds.
