Fifth Avenue turning lane extension at SR-A1A: Project waiting on progress at S. Riverside Drive turn lane.
Outfall Drain in Wavecrest Park: FDOT developed an approach to channel the initial water from SR-A1A west under Fifth Avenue with the excess going through the existing beach structure. The proposal was analyzed by FDOT for funding prioritization; however, due to limited funds projects that suffered damage from last year’s storms received a higher ranking than did Indialantic. Estimated outside cost is projected to be $100,000 to $150,000. FDOT provided construction information to the Town, which was forwarded for inclusion by the MPO in the Transportation Improvement Program.
Wavecrest Park Water Fountain: The members of the Parks & Recreation/Beautification Committee are developing a proposal to utilize the $1,485 available from the damaged water fountain.
FRDAP Grant/Wavecrest/Nance Park: The grant amount is $112,500 FRDAP share and $37,500 Town share.
a. The grant application as approved by the Council includes adding playground equipment; performing rehabilitation work on the existing boardwalk; installing a handicap access ramp to the beach; reconstructing crossover 15; and painting the interior and exterior of the restrooms as well as fixing certain plumbing fixtures. Work has been completed. The Town has received over $41,000 from the State, has made final payment to the contractor, and will request the balance of grant funds once the cancelled check is available from the contractor.
FRDAP Grant/Riverside Park: The executed agreement has been received from the FDEP and we are preparing the commencement documents for State review. The grant amount is $86,000 FRDAP share and $28,668 Town share.
a. The grant application as approved by the Council includes adding a pier, observation deck, bicycle rack, picnic tables, benches, waste containers, a gazebo, handicap parking; and providing for improved signage.
b. Permitting is in progress for the pier and observation deck, which is required to complete the commencement document phase submittal. The permit application has been submitted to FDEP and a response is being provided to FDEP’s comments.
FRDAP Grant/Orlando Park: FDEP has verbally indicated that the Town’s application has been approved. Non-FRDAP funded restroom plans were discussed with the Parks Committee on June 12, 2001.
Pavers/Fifth Avenue: The Parks & Recreation/ Beautification Committee has worked with staff toward having pavers installed along the north side of the 300 block of Fifth Avenue and to have spots in the 100 and 200 blocks repaired. Staff is waiting for work to progress at the new Kempf’s Jewelers so that the pavers, once installed, won’t be disturbed.
County sewer line installation: A force main is to be installed from the N. Riverside Drive/Second Avenue intersection along Second Avenue to Palm Avenue and south on Palm Avenue. The County has requested to install this line to eliminate the sewage overflow situation that has occurred in the past at the intersection of Miami Avenue and S. Riverside Drive. The County has opened bids for the project which are being evaluated.
Dr. Saxe’s Property on Fifth Avenue: Dr. Saxe was advised of the Council’s review of his counteroffer on December 19, 2000.
Fifth Avenue turn lane @ Riverside Drive: The two Town parcels have been transferred to the State. The Town Attorney is finalizing closing documents with Mr. Haley’s attorney.
SR-A1A Resurfacing with sidewalk on west side: FDOT has indicated that the resurfacing is expected to begin in June, 2001.
Sunrise Park Extension: The County has been requested to work with the State to engage in a voluntary annexation process. The County has forwarded the Town’s intent to the State and is communicating with the State.
Douglas Park: The park presently has a broken seawall that will probably move these needed improvements along with other park enhancements to be considered by the Council in the near future for a September, 2001, FRDAP grant application.
Lily Park: A concrete sidewalk has been installed in Lily Park to connect the existing pathway to the new gazebo to insure access for handicapped individuals.
Sidewalk repair: Various areas where the Palm Avenue sidewalk connects to intersecting streets have been repaired.
Riverside Drive improvements: The Town will be presented with work thus far exerted by the County for the Fifth Avenue/Riverside Drive intersection to determine if the Town desires for the County to improve this intersection.
