I. Improve economic opportunities for the Town
(explore ways to increase revenues to lessen the burden on Town taxpayers and identify new sources of revenue)
a. task the Budget & Finance Committee with exploring the Town’s operating expenses, revenues, potential alternative revenue sources, potential saving options (which could include an employee suggestion program providing financial rewards for savings) (04/01/09)
1. note: Budget & Finance Committee met on 3/24/09, 3/31/09, & 4/7/09 with department heads to review each departmental budget in detail (4/8/09)
b. explore ways to partner cost savings with going “green” and being more environmentally friendly
(1) promote going “green” awareness to employees and residents
II. Address infrastructure needs
a. identify areas of existing infrastructure that need attention (04/01/09)

III. Improve the Magnolia Pedway (Eighth Avenue to Melbourne Avenue)
a. identify the presence of existing utilities (by securing a survey) and existing improvements (12/01/09)
1. note: BSE directed to prepare survey information expanding 6th to 9th drainage project detail for the Magnolia Pedway out to Melbourne Avenue (4/1/09)
b. identify potential dry water retention needs (11/01/09)
c. identify existing trees and any other significant vegetation (12/01/09)

e. establish meetings with local residents to determine desired use and appearance level (02/01/10)
IV. Improve communications with residents
a. adopt a plan to implement a new Town web site
(1) agreement to staff
(2) agreement to Town attorney

(6) preparation of backlog of existing material that needs to be transferred to the new site
(a) assess using staff to perform vs. volunteers
(7) ensure that the new site has a mechanism to convey via e-mail public awareness information to those who sign-up for this feature
b. develop customer service standards for responding to inquires and resolving concerns/problems
V. Miscellaneous
a. update sections of the Town Code of Ordinances
(1) staff will review sections and prepare any desired changes to Council for consideration and modification through the adoption of ordinances (every other month beginning with 07/01/09)
A. note: Chapters 13 and 17 being revised to address grand opening signs, Chapter 16 being modified (3/17/09)
B. note: Chapter 16 being revised to address vegetative responsibility and Chapter 15 being revised to codify prior Council action regarding street closures (4/21/09)
b. develop a volunteer service component outlining needs that might be satisfied using volunteer efforts (08/01/09)
