      I.               CALL TO ORDER AT 9:00 AM

 

    II.               APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES

A.  Minutes 05-06, May 23, 2005

 

Mr. Deratany moved to approve the Minutes of May 23, 2005. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

  III.               TREASURER’S REPORT- Betty Preece

 

There was no activity to report.

IV.               TOWN HALL REPORT – R. Cassedy

A.  Nick Hobbs will present plan for the Magnolia ped-way

 

      Mr. Hobbs was not present.

 

The Town Manager informed the committee of improvements/repairs at Nance Park, Sunrise Park and Orlando Park. Approval of the Grant for Orlando Park has been received by oral confirmation.

  V.               BEAUTIFICATION

 

The nominations for the Beautification Award were 240 Wayne Avenue and 313 Wayne Avenue.

 

Ms. Preece moved to give the award to 313 Wayne Avenue. Ms. Goldner seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

VI.               PARKS

 

A.  Discussion of assigned parks- committee members to present “wish list” for their assigned parks

 

      Chairman Gust will inform Mr. Deratany to place the award sign at 313 Wayne Avenue.

 

The Committee members were give a copy of the causeway landscape plan (south side). The Committee will meet on Monday July 11 at 8:00 a.m. at Douglas Park to go over the area to be enhanced.

 

·        Ms. Goldner- Indian River Park –grass growing up through the seat of the bench in the park but otherwise it looks fine.

·        Ms. Preece - Miramar Park –high grass.

·        Ms. Benevente - Sunset Park –bench is against the wall and should be near the water. It was noted that the sea grape canopy was very nice.

·        Ms. Schwanbeck –Dewey Park- needs trimming.

·        Ms. Schwanbeck – Gus Carey Park- everything fine

·        Chairman Gust-Orlando Park- needs weeding in sign bed, otherwise looks fine.

·        Lilly Park – pumphouse coming apart.

VII.               RECREATION

A.  Discussion of concert in the park

 

Ms. Hendry spoke to the band representative at Satellite High School, he wants to wait until August to discuss the concert.

 

The Committee discussed using the Satellite High School band for a later since the concert is scheduled for the second Sunday in August.

 

The Committee will have all information available for the July newsletter.

VIII.               OTHER

A.  Luminaria discussion

     

The Committee discussed flyers to get feedback on whether or not to keep the luminaria program. Ms. Schwanbeck suggested putting her phone # in the newsletter for interest in luminaria and perhaps for pre-ordering.

 

Mr. Chinault suggested informing people where the luminaria money goes. Such as the Indialantic turtle sign at Fifth Avenue and Miramar.

 

Supplies will be needed this year.

 

B.      Selection of holiday decorations

 

Mr. Cassedy has the catalog of holiday decorations. The Committee will ask Mr. Cassedy to meet them at Douglas Park on July 11 to look at the catalog and make selections.
