      I.            CALL TO ORDER AT 9:00 AM

 

Chairman Gust called the meeting to order at 9:00 am.

    II.            APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES

A.     Minutes 05-02 November 22, 2004

        

Ms. Preece  moved to accept prior minutes

Ms. Young seconded, motion passed unanimously.

  III.            TREASURER’S REPORT-

IV.            TOWN HALL REPORT – R. Cassedy

Committee discussed the causeway improvements.  Mr. Deratany informed committee about appropriation funds through local legislators.  This committee would like the Town staff to look into appropriating funds in this manner to enhance the causeway plan and perhaps have some input as to what trees would be placed on the causeway.

Ms. Preece motioned for Town Manager to place on Council agenda

Mr. McLaughlin seconded, motion passed unanimously.

 

Mr. Chinault requests this committee write a letter of support to apply for a FRDAP grant to place 99 trees on the causeway.

            Ms. Preece made a motion to write a letter of support

Mr. Deratany seconded, motion passed unanimously

  V.            BEAUTIFICATION

A. Town Council request this committee review the present color code 

Committee discussed this at length

Ms. Young moved to retain present color code

Mr. Deratany seconded, motion failed

Ms. Preece motioned to eliminate the “energetic brights” from the color code

Ms. Goldner seconded, motion failed

 

This committee discussed this issue at length but could not concur on any suggestions

Issue tabled for further discussion

VI.            PARKS

A.        Discussion of assigned parks

            Mr. Deratany reported that Douglas Park looks great except for the continual dog problem

            Mr. Gust reported that Orlando Park looks good; the broken play equipment has been repaired

            Ms. Benevente reported the dog problem at Sunset Park

 

B.         Discussion on expanding concerts in the park

            Ms. Potts-Hendry has contacted the Satellite Beach High School Jazz Ensemble; the concert is proposed for, Sunday, March 13 from 2 pm to 4 pm, no fee but donations for the band are welcome.

Ms. Young made a motion to approve the date and to donate $100.00 to the band

Mr. McLaughlin seconded, motion passed unanimously

 

             VII.            RECREATION

           VIII.            OTHER

A. Discussion of luminaria sales

The total profit from luminaria sales this year was $350.00.  Ms. Schwanbeck will bring in the history of luminaria sales to decide whether or not to continue with this practice.

Ms. Goldner motioned to have a donation box at next year’s tree lighting

Ms. Preece seconded, motion passed unanimously.
