      I.            CALL TO ORDER AT 10:00 AM

 

Chairman Benevente called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.

    II.            APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES

A.     Minutes 04-01 October 13, 2003

        

Ms. Young moved to accept prior minutes with the following corrections:

IV. The portion of the boardwalk north   south of the bathrooms will be repaired.

Ms. Goldner seconded, motion passed unanimously.

  III.            TREASURER’S REPORT-

 

IV.            TOWN HALL REPORT – R. Cassedy

Public works employees extended the handrails and added grab rails to the pier at Riverside Park.

            Public works has taken over the maintenance of the Fifth Avenue median as of October 1, 2003.

            The gazebo roof at Orlando Park has been repaired.

            The roof over the picnic table at Sea Park has been repaired.

Holiday decorations for Fifth Avenue will be installed around Thanksgiving.  We may need new transformers

on the light poles.

            Lee’s Wrecker will donate their trailer for the tree lighting.

            Crossover number 11 has been refurbished.

 

  V.            BEAUTIFICATION

A.        Ms. Preece made a motion to nominate 245 Second Avenue, Ms. Young seconded, motion passed unanimously.

B.                 Mr. Chinault informed this committee that the community guide does not fall under this committee’s responsibility.

C.        Mr. Chinault said that Town Council is discussing replacing the cord grass in the median and is open to suggestions from this committee.  Ron suggested Dwarf Indian Hawthorn; it only grows approximately 2 feet high.  Mr. Gust made a motion to suggest Dwarf Indian Hawthorn, Ms. Preece seconded, motion passed unanimously.

VI.            PARKS

A.        Mr. Chinault suggested this committee prioritize the parks in need of signs; they cost approximately $1000.00 each.  Dewey, Sunrise, Sea and Indian River parks all are in need of signs. 

            Ms. Preece made a motion to delay purchasing a sign until after the cost of transformers is known, Ms. Young seconded, motion passed unanimously.

B.         Ms. Hendry reported that both Nance and Douglas Parks look nice.  Mr. Gust reported that Orlando Park had a problem with sand spurs around play equipment.

             VII.            RECREATION

A.        Discussed after the meeting.

B.                 Wendy’s will be donating all three cases of cookies this year.

C.

D.        Tree lighting is at 7:00; please arrive at 6:15.

           VIII.            OTHER

Mr. Chinault would like to schedule a meeting in December to discuss a sign for Nance Park.  Mr. Nance is sending a sign person to discuss different sign types.  Mr. Nance would prefer not to have the sign constructed with stucco.
