      I.            CALL TO ORDER AT 10:00 AM

 

Chairman Benevente called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.

    II.            APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES

A.     Minutes 01-11, October 9, 2001

        

Ms. Thomson moved to approve the prior minutes with the following corrections:  The CD player purchased last year was budgeted at $250.00; the actual cost was $88.63.

Ms. Hayward seconded.

  III.            TREASURER’S REPORT- K. Kowalski

 

Mr. McLaughlin moved to accept the treasures report, Ms. Thomson seconded. 

IV.            TOWN HALL REPORT – R. Cassedy

 

Ron reported that the bids for Orlando Park came in, they will be analyzed and possibly Public Works will do some of the work to bring the cost down.

 

The FRDAP grant for Douglas Park is progressing.

 

Annexation of land north of Sunset Park will be on the Town Council’s November 14th agenda.

 

The pier at Riverside Park has been started.

 

The signs at Sunset and Orlando Parks have been installed.

 

 

 

  V.            BEAUTIFICATION

A. Fountain Committee Report

There were no bids for the sign base.  The fountain committee will meet with Mr. Chinault to discuss the next step.

VI.            PARKS

 

      A. A fence was installed at Sunset Park on November 9.

 

      Joyce Warner has set up tentative agreements for 2 concerts this year.  One on February 17, 2002 at 2:30 with the Satellite Beach Jazz Ensemble.  One on May 5 at 2:30 with the Melbourne Municipal Band.  The budget for each of these concerts is $300.00, $200.00 going to the band, the remainder to be used for miscellaneous expenditures, such as chair rentals and advertising.

      Joyce would like the concerts mentioned in the town newsletter and perhaps on the marquee.  She would also like to know if it were possible to waive the parking fees for band members.

      In the case of inclement weather there will be a decision made by 12:30 and there will be no rain dates.

      Ms. Warner will attend the next meeting to discuss the progress of the first concert.

 

             VII.            RECREATION

 

           VIII.            OTHER

A.  Luminaria will be available to start bagging one week before Thanksgiving.  Ms. Benevente, Mr. McLaughlin, Ms. Hayward, Ms. Mauter and Ms. Kowalski have volunteered to put together the Luminaria kits.

 

B.   Ms. Kowalski spoke with the Assistant Manager of Wendy’s about the cookies and he said they should be able to do that again this year for us.  Four cases of cookies will cost $123.00.

 

Ms. Mauter will not be able to continue as part of the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee.  She said that she would continue to assist when needed.  Ms. Kowalski will replace Ms. Mauter as the liaison to Joyce Warner.
