  III.            TREASURER’S REPORT- K. Kowalski

Ms. Kowalski was not present.

IV.            TOWN HALL REPORT – R. Cassedy

Mr. Cassedy was not present. Town Manager, Chinault was present and gave a report as follows:

The FRDAP grant of approximately $112,500, for Nance Park has been formally approved. This amount includes a match of $37,000 from the Town. The plan is for new playground equipment and shade trees for the Park and also replacement of the Boardwalk as well as bathroom renovations and dune crossover repair.

The FRDAP grant for Riverside Park was also awarded in the amount of $86,000 with a Town match of $28,666. This grant was originally intended for shoreline restoration and a new gazebo. That restoration work has been completed using FEMA funds resulting from the last two hurricanes. If a resolution can be reached with Eastminster Presbyterian Church, a joint project is planned that would include a parking area and a pier, keeping in mind to preserve existing vegetation and maintain a passive area. (There are remnants of a former pier that can be utilized).

The fence requested by this Committee for the east side of Riverside Park will be on the August agenda for the Town Council.

The old Lily Park pavilion has been removed. The building permit for the new gazebo has been issued but not yet picked up.

In regards to the Tree grant, there isn’t enough room to line the palms on the causeway median as originally planned. Some of the trees (cabbage palms) will be clumped on the north side of the causeway. A portion of the palms will be planted on A1A (the west side of Nance Park), extending the Fifth Avenue corridor. This corridor will also be extended into Riverside Place, where palms will be planted, leaving room for swales and future parking.

Bid packages for landscape and mowing will be opened in a public forum July 31, 2000.

The insurance offer of $1,485, for the water fountain at the east end of Fifth Avenue has been accepted. Ms. Schwanbeck noted that the new sign behind the fountain is discolored.

Chairman Bohlmann requested of the Town Manager that Sunrise Park be considered for repaving since the pavers are in Town doing street repaving.
