Also attending the meeting was Michelle Peters Snyder, an Indialantic resident.

 

1.    CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Bohlmann called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

 

2.    APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES

Minutes No. 99-65 April 13, 1999 were approved with an addition made by the following       motion:

 

       Mr. Vickers made a motion to add Chairman Bohlmann as part of the Budget Committee.       Ms. Thomson seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

 

3.    TREASURER=S REPORT - K. Kowalski

Ms. Kowalski reported that the Beautification Account has a balance of $5,825.00, the Recreation balance is about $500.00 and Luminaria has a balance of $10,438.14 plus interest for the month.

 

The cost of plants purchased by Ron for landscaping around town hall was approximately $310.00. The Easter event cost around $447.76. The tape was $64.00 (should last two more years) and is stored at the Department of Public Works.

 

4.    TOWN HALL/COMMUNITY CONCERNS

Mr. Cassedy was not present at this meeting.

 

5.    PARKS

A.      Nance Park-Play Equipment

a.      Presentation by Guest Speaker

 

April Kravin of Kompan, advised the committee of a new piece of equipment suitable for ages           3 and up. A climbing wall made of steel reinforced concrete with 4" thick walls, 9' 3" high and 18' in length. The hardware is weather resistant and graffiti proof. The fall zone is 16" of wood fiber compacted to 12" and contained within a holding wall. The company is offering 20% off the unit and 50% off installation. The total cost including shipping is $12,000.00.

 

 


6.    RECREATION

A.      Marge Schwanbeck

a.      Purchase of Costumes

 

Ms. Schwanbeck informed the committee that AThe Looking Glass Cottage@ has better prices            for the purchase of costumes.

 

Ms. Kowalski made a motion that the purchase of costumes come out of next years budget. Mr. Vickers seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

 

7.    BEAUTIFICATION

A.      Signs/Park

       B.       Holiday Lighting-Wreaths/Banners, Etc.

 

These items were tabled due to the absence of Mr. Cassedy.

 

8.    OLD BUSINESS

A.      Budget Committee

 

The Budget Committee, Ms. Schwanbeck, Ms. Kowalski, Ms. Thomson, Ms. Coburn and Mr.          Bohlmann, will meet on Wednesday, May 19 at 9:00 a.m.

 

9.    NEW BUSINESS

A.      Beautification Award to Commercial Properties & Businesses

 

The Committee discussed the merit of  recognizing businesses that improve or maintain         their property. The recognition could be  quarterly in the form of a plaque. All agreed that this           is a worthwhile endeavor.
