I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Bozeman called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
Ms. Bruffey moved to approve the Minutes of May 15, 2007 as amended. (Ms. Bruffey will also help with archiving.) Ms. Marx seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Bozeman welcomed Ms. Sherman as a guest and introduced her to the Committee. Ms. Sherman is very interested in joining the Heritage Committee and will submit her application to Town Hall.
Chairman Bozeman attended last month’s Council meeting. At that meeting, the Council awarded the Heritage Committee a Town Proclamation, which Chairman Bozeman shared with the Committee this morning.
Chairman Bozeman will attend the Melbourne Historical Preservation Advisory Board meeting this evening.
Ms. Marx, on behalf of Chairman Bozeman, presented the proposed budget to the Town Clerk. (Archiving and reproduction = $250; History Guide = $750; Purchasing Recording Equipment and Supplies = $500; Total proposed budget = $1,500) Currently there is approximately $953 left in this year’s budget.
Chairman Bozeman received information from Ron Constantino regarding the purchasing of a digital voice recorder. He suggested the Sony ICDMX20 Memory Stick Digital Voice Recorder. Chairman Bozeman asked the Committee to bring their suggestions to the next meeting.
Chairman Bozeman sent a request to the Town Clerk asking that the Heritage Committee receive notification when a building over 50 years old is going to be demolished. She will follow up with the Town Clerk and report back to the Committee.
Chairman Bozeman will follow up with Mr. Goldfarb on the production of historical conversations with residents and also ask him for his ideas for the website.
Chairman Bozeman informed the Committee that she will call Ron Campbell to set up a time to discuss expanding the Heritage Committee’s information on the Town’s website. Suggestions for the website expansion include photos from the archives, town trivia, history and past mayor and council members.
Ms. Marx is researching the procedures for submitting the 55th Anniversary Celebration DVD to the Florida Historical Society. Ms. Bruffey informed the Committee that she will be going on a river boat tour tomorrow hosted by the Society and will also try to obtain information for the Committee.
Ms. Marx asked each Committee member to create a list of potential interviewees for future recordings.
Ms. Marx will bring the Committee’s Mission Statement to the next meeting.
Ms. Andren, Ms. Marx and Ms. Bruffey agreed to meet on Wednesday, June 27, at 9:00 a.m. in Chambers to work on archiving.
After listening to Ms. Sherman speak about her life experiences, Ms. Grout suggested “Pioneers in Indialantic” as a new project.
The next meeting is July 17th at 8:00 a.m.
