HERITAGE COMMITTEE

MINUTES 06-08

September 19, 2006  8:00 A.M.

 

I.                   CALL TO ORDER

II.                APPROVAL OF NOTES OF JULY 18, 2006

           

Mr. Miller moved to approve the Minutes of July 18, 2006.  Ms. Marx seconded.   Motion passed unanimously.

 

III.             DISCUSSION OF HERITAGE EVENTS

           

At the last Workshop, the Committee decided to meet every Monday, beginning September 18, 2006 at Town Hall Council Chambers from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to review historic archival files (Holidays excluded).

 

Ms. Bozeman and Ms. Andren met with Mr. Chinault, Town Manager, regarding the annual budget and stated that the Town Manager is very supportive of this event.  Mr. Chinault agreed to help Ms. Bozeman and Ms. Andren in securing the Trolley for the event. 

 

A discussion followed about possibly switching the event to March 24, 2007 because the Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for March 31, 2007.  The Committee unanimously agreed to keep the event for March 31st

 

Ms. Bozeman agreed to contact Ron Cassedy, Director of Public Works, Chief Jon Macdonald, Indialantic Fire Rescue and Beverly Goldner, Chairman-Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee to help coordinate the event.  Ms. Bozeman also agreed to contact John McNeil from the Homeowners’ Association regarding a possible fishing contest on the pier.  In addition, she will speak to the Turtle Preservation Society and the Garden Club about participating in this event. 

 

The Committee is still discussing the possibility of having an “Old Timers Booth” and Indialantic Postcards.  In addition, Mr. Goldfarb will look into pony rides and Ms. Marx will contact with the Wildlife Sanctuary to see if they are interested in participating. 

 

 

IV.              REPORT FROM CHAIRMAN BOZEMAN

 

Ms. Bozeman is working with Eagle Press on reprinting the Historical Building Guide.  The cost of reprinting 1,000 copies is $510.50 plus an additional charge of $35.00 for graphic changes (Gone but not forgotten), totaling $545.50.  Ms. Marx moved to approve the changes and cost.  Mr. Goldfarb seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

Ms. Bozeman asked Laura Eaton, Town Clerk, to post a notice in the next Indialantic Record requesting volunteers to contact her (Ms. Bozeman) if they are interested in helping with the Town’s celebration. 

 

V.                 ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

 

Ms. Marx and Mr. Goldfarb agreed to meet shortly to coordinate the interview schedule.  Ms. Marx agreed to talk to Mr. Milligan.
