HERITAGE COMMITTEE

MINUTES 06-5

I.                   CALL TO ORDER

II.                APPROVAL OF NOTES OF MAY 16, 2006

 

Mr. Miller moved to approve the notes of April 18, 2006.  Ms. Bozeman seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.

 

III.             DISCUSSION OF HERITAGE EVENTS

           

Committee again discussed naming the anniversary event for March 2007, possibly “55th Heritage Event” or “Celebrate 55.”  Ms. Bozeman agreed to check the Brevard County Calendar for any conflicts in scheduling this event for possibly March 3rd & 4th.  

 

Ms. Grout agreed to follow up on the “Preservation of Homes” in town. 

 

The Committee agreed to hold an “Archival Workshop” on May 22nd and a “Brainstorming Meeting for Heritage Day” on June 12th.  In addition, it was agreed to hold “Archival Meetings” on June 26, 28, 29 & 30. 

 

IV.              REPORT FROM CHAIRMAN ANDREN

 

Ms. Andren distributed copies of the Brevard County Historical Commission’s letter dated May 5, 2006 regarding the “Brevard Heritage Celebration.”  Ms. Andren stated that she will forward an e-mail to Ms. Holmgren reconfirming meetings, workshops and “dates of interest” and request that this be sent to all Committee Members. 

 

Ms. Andren showed video clips from the “50th Anniversary.” 

 

 

 

 

V.                 ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

 

Ms. Bozeman will continue to coordinate the interview schedule.

 

Ms. Andren agreed to call Carolyn Hazelgrove, former Town Clerk, to schedule an interview.

 

She also spoke to Andrea Deratany and Tim Deratany about possibly interviewing each of them.  

 

Ms. Bozeman and Ms. Andren will follow up with Mr. Vernon’s interview on May 17th. 

 

VI.              OTHER

 

Ms. Andren’s term expired as Chairman and suggested Denise Bozeman, Vice Chairman, be elected as Chairman.  Motion made by Jenifer Marx to elect Ms. Bozeman as Chairman.  Seconded by Mr. Miller.  Motion passed unanimously.  Committee thanked Ms. Andren for her dedicated service as Chairman over the last three (3) years. 

 

Motion made by Mr. Miller to elect Ms. Marx as Vice Chairman.  Seconded by Mr. Goldfarb.  Motion passed unanimously. 

 

VII.           ADJOURNMENT

 

Adjournment was at 9:00 a.m.
