HERITAGE COMMITTEE

NOTES OF MEETING

April 18, 2006, 8:00 A.M.

 

I.  CALL TO ORDER

II.        APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 21, 2006

 

Minutes will be approved at next month’s meeting.  No quorum.

 

III.     DISCUSSION OF HERITAGE EVENTS

 

The Committee discussed naming the anniversary event for Spring 2007 as well as hosting special activities.  This event should not conflict with the March 2007 Art Show.  To generate interest, it was suggested to contact the Wave and Home Town News.   Ms. Andren suggested having the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee involved as well as the Police and Fire Departments.

 

Ms. Bozeman and Mr. Goldfarb will conduct two (2) interviews of Ms. Milligan; memories of grandparents and growing up in the Town of Indialantic.

 

IV.     REPORT FROM CHAIRMAN ANDREN

 

V.           ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

 

Ms. Milligan will follow up with Zoe Toler’s availability for being interviewed the week of March 27th, and Mr. Goldfarb agreed to help set up the videotaping. 

 

Laurie Kolachi has offered to transcribe Bob Marx’ interview.  Ms. Andren will ask Ms. Marx for the CD with images of Mr. Marx.

 

Ms. Andren will call Mr. Paul Beckwith for an interview and will plan to meet with Ms. Milligan to set up the note taking. 

 

Mr. Miller agreed to contact Ms. Mignon “Maurine” Engle to see if she is interested in being interviewed.  Ms. Engle is 105, still lives in the same house and used to perform at the Tradewinds Hotel. 

 

Ms. Andren mentioned interviewing Tim Deratany since he has offered his memorabilia from the Town. 

 

VI.        OTHER

 

Mr. Deratany resigned from the Committee since he no longer lives in Town.

 

Ms. Andren will notify Ms. Holmgren of any upcoming interviews so that she can e-mail the Committee with details.
