MINUTES 05-06

I.  CALL TO ORDER

II.        APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 15, 2005

 

Mr. Miller moved to approve the minutes with corrections. Mr. Deratany seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

 

Corrections being, Jackie Potts-Hendry will interview Bob Marx.

 

III.     REVIEW OF ORAL HISTORY WORKSHOP

 

Chairman Andren advised the Committee of a successful workshop with Leonardo Falcon. Ms. Bozeman, Ms. Hendry, Ms. Marx and Mr. Miller also attended the workshop along with 4 guests. Material from Mr. Falcon outlining the workshop will be copied for those who could not attend.

 

Committee members agreed to a letter of appreciation to Mr. Falcon along with a 50th Anniversary Indialantic T-shirt, if available.

 

IV.        COMMITTEE ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

 

Guest, Mr. Goldfarb, worked for NBC and has extensive experience in interviewing as well as technical knowledge of equipment needed for interviews. Mr. Goldfarb offered to set up a workshop for the Committee advising on editorial points as well as the technical aspect of an interview. A tentative date of April 2, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. was set for the workshop.

 

Mr. Goldfarb also advised the Committee of the need for additional equipment – a key light and an adaptor cable (from microphone to recorder). The key light can be purchased on ebay for about $200.00 and the cable adaptor locally for around $20.00.

 

Ms. Marx moved to approve the purchase of a key light and cable adaptor that will meet the needs of the Committee not to exceed $300.00. Mr. Miller seconded.

 

 

During discussion, Mr. Goldbarb mentioned the need for a tripod specifically for video equipment. The tripod being used for practice interviews does not have a fluid movement required for more professional interviews.

 

Ms. Milligan moved to amend the motion to purchase the needed equipment including a tripod, not to exceed $400.00. Mr. Miller seconded. Motion passed with Chairman Andren, Mr. Deratany, Ms. Marx, Mr. Miller and Ms. Milligan voting yes. Ms. Bozeman voted no.

 

Ms. Bozeman volunteered to take the material from the Oral History Workshop and create a program to use as a guideline for this Committees’ oral history project.

 

Dian Milligan will be interviewed in the month of April.

 

The interview of Bob Marx is planned for early May.

 

V.           OTHER

 

The Committee discussed the material gathered by Ada Forney for this Committee and decided not to continue the project.

 

VI.        ADJOURNMENT
