HERITAGE COMMITTEE

I. CALL TO ORDER

Dr. Fleming has resigned from the Heritage Committee
II. Ms. Marx made a motion to approve Minutes of May 7, 2003. Mr. Miller seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
III. ORGANIZATION
The “charge” of the Heritage Committee drafted by Ms. Marx was adopted by consensus for presentation to the Town Council.
The “charge” is to ensure that our history is recorded and preserved for future generations. The Heritage Committee has been established to:
· Research and record relevant historic materials
· Consolidate and preserve historic materials
· Develop and execute an Indialantic Oral History project
· Collect and preserve contemporary historical materials
· Arrange, preserve and make available to the public-documents, pictures and memorabilia relating to Indialantic history
· Stimulate interest in Indialantic history through displays, lectures, workshops and other venues
· Promote awareness of historic Indialantic’s traditions to a larger audience through media and social activities
Chairman Andren will attend tonight’s council meeting with copies of the “charge” for the council and to introduce Committee members.
Chairman Andren discussed the following with the Committee:
· List of people to interview
· Oral history interviews
· Video interviews
· Resources –archival, memorabilia, memories
· 51st Anniversary of Town
· Fire Department history
Ms. Bozeman presented a rough draft of a letter to Indialantic residents chronicling the formation of the Heritage Committee. Residents were asked for photos, stories and memories of Indialantic for future publications.
