MINUTES OF A SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE INDIALANTIC TOWN HALL ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2007

 

 

            PRESENT:       Hon. Robert L. Cochran, Mayor

                                    Hon. Vince Benevente, Deputy Mayor

                                    Hon. Dave Berkman, Councilman

                        Hon. Bruce Bogert, Councilman

                        Hon. Loren Goldfarb, Councilman

                        Christopher W. Chinault, Town Manager

                        Laura Eaton, Town Clerk

     I.     CALL TO ORDER AT 7:00 PM

 

            Mayor Cochran called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

 

   II.     PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

  III.     PUBLIC HEARING ON TENTATIVE 2007-2008 MILLAGE RATE AND BUDGET

 

            A.      Council discussion of tentative budget and proposed millage rate

               

            B.      Public Announcement – the proposed millage rate is 4.3313 which is a 4.07% increase over the rolled back millage rate of  4.1621

 

                      Mayor Cochran read the public announcement.

 

            C.      Public hearings

 

                      1.   Tentative budget

 

                           There were no public comments.

 

                      2.   Proposed millage rate

 

                            There were no public comments.

 

            D.      Amend tentative budget (if necessary) and recompute millage (if necessary)

 

             E.      Adoption of tentative millage rate of 4.3313

 

                      Deputy Mayor Benevente moved to adopt a tentative millage rate of 4.3313.  Councilman Bogert seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

            F.      Adoption of tentative budget in the amount of $4,210,674 and tentative general fund budget in the amount of  $3,386,922

 

                      Councilman Berkman moved to adopt the tentative budget in the amount of $4,210,674 and tentative general fund budget in the amount of  $3,386,922.  Deputy Mayor Benevente seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

 

 

            G.      Public Announcement – the final hearing on the tentative millage rate and the tentative budget will be held on September 19, 2007 at 7:00 pm

 

                      Mayor Cochran read the public announcement.

 

  IV.     ADJOURNMENT

 

            The meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM.
