MINUTES OF A TOWN COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE INDIALANTIC TOWN HALL ON JUNE 20, 2006
PRESENT:

I. CALL TO ORDER AT 7:00 PM
Deputy Mayor Benevente called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

A. Lois Schissel, 440 10th Avenue, requested that more trash cans be added on the south side of the causeway.
B. Loren Goldfarb, 320 Deland, gave an update on the Heritage Committee.
C. Demi Morekas, 2730 S. A1A, received clarification regarding dogs at outdoor restaurants.
IV. PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Town Clerk read the following announcements:
A. There are currently openings on the Board of Adjustment, Budget and Finance Committee, Civil Service Board and Parks, Recreation and Beautification Committee
B. There will be openings on the Board and Adjustment and Budget and Finance Committee in July
C. Town Hall will be closed Tuesday, July 4th
V. CONSENT AGENDA
A. Minutes No. 06-08– Regular Meeting – May 16, 2006
B. Approval of the Auditor Selection Committee’s ranking of audit firms and authorization for the Town Manager to negotiate a contract with the number one firm
C. Approval for the Brevard Watercolor Society to hold an art show in Nance Park March 24-25, 2007
D. Authorization for Deputy Mayor Benevente to attend the Florida League of Cities’ 80th Annual Conference as the Town’s voting delegate
E. Approval of mid-year budget adjustments
Councilman Bogert moved to approve the consent agenda. Councilman Berkman seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

A. Ordinance 06-08 - Amending the qualifying provisions of the Town Charter for Town Council to comply with County election deadlines

There were no public comments.
Councilman Bogert moved to adopt Ordinance 06-08. Councilman McCabe seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
B. Ordinance 06-09 – Amending Sec. 13-3(c)6 and Sec. 17-106.3(6) regarding the duration that banners may be displayed

The Town Clerk read the ordinance by title only.
2. Public hearing and adoption
There were no public comments.
Councilman Berkman moved to adopt Ordinance 06-09. Councilman McCabe seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
C. Ordinance 06-10 – Amending Sec. 15-18.1(k) to allow full time employees to receive one free parking permit
1. First reading – by title only
The Town Clerk read the ordinance by title only.
2. Public hearing and adoption on first reading
There were no public comments.
Deputy Mayor Benevente moved to approve Ordinance 06-10 on first reading. Councilman Berkman seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
D. Ordinance 06-11 – Amending Sec. 7-28 relating to qualifications for volunteer firefighters
1. First reading – by title only
The Town Clerk read the ordinance by title only.
2. Public hearing and adoption on first reading
There were no public comments.
Councilman Bogert moved to approve Ordinance 06-11 on first reading. Councilman McCabe seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

A. Report from Town Manager
Statistical Reports – May, 2006
B. Report from Town Attorney
Attorney Gougelman advised that the Town is waiting for statistical information for the sexual predator ordinance which will be presented at the July meeting.
XI. REPORTS
A. Mayor Trott was not present.
B. Deputy Mayor Benevente reported that the Space Coast League of Cities meeting will be July 10, 2006 hosted by Indian Harbour Beach.
C. Councilman Berkman complimented staff on the improvements being made in Orlando Park and received clarification regarding the proposed FRDAP grant for Riverside Park.
D. Councilman Bogert congratulated Town Manager Chinault on becoming a grandfather.
E. Councilman McCabe received updates on the causeway lights, possible grants from the St. Johns River Water Management District and the planning consultant. He advised his next neighborhood meeting will be July 16, 2006 at 7:00 pm at the Tampa Avenue crossover.
