MINUTES NO. 00-9

MINUTES OF A SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE INDIALANTIC TOWN HALL ON FEBRUARY 28, 2000.

PRESENT: Hon. Robert Cochran, Jr., Mayor

Hon. Vince Benevente, Councilman

Hon. Bruce Bogert, Councilman

Hon. Michael Fischer, Councilman

Paul Gougelman, Town Attorney

Laura Eaton, Interim Town Manager

Barbara Brownlie, Interim Town Clerk

ABSENT: Hon. Lisa Leger Frazier, Deputy Mayor (excused)

I.CALL TO ORDER AT 6:00 PM

Mayor Cochran called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.

II. INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTOPHER CHINAULT – TOWM MANAGER APPLICANT

Council interviewed Mr. Chinault.

III. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PURCHASE OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 230 FIFTH AVENUE

Mayor Cochran reported that the appraisal on the property adjacent to Town Hall came back at $140,000 and that the asking price was $210,000. He asked the Council to authorize beginning negotiations with the seller and advised that any actions would have to be approved by the Council.

Councilman Benevente moved to authorize that the Mayor, Town Attorney and Acting Town Manager begin negotiations to purchase the property. Councilman Bogert seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

IV. ADJOURNMENT

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 PM.
