I.          CALL TO ORDER AT  10:30 a.m.

Chairman Kowalski called the meeting to order at 10:35 am.

II.        RYAN DESCHENES’ APPLICATION FOR DISABILITY/PENSION BENEFITS

Ryan Deschenes and his attorney, Edward Farrell, were present.

Attorney Jensen advised that the process, which can take six to eight months, requires an examination by a physician of the Board’s choosing and that Mr. Deschenes needs to complete the HIPPA release and interrogatories to present to the Board.  She noted that more medical information is needed from the doctors who have treated Mr. Deschenes and that her office would send out forms to the doctors to obtain the nature of his injuries.

In response to a question from Attorney Farrell, Attorney Jensen advised that, if approved, Mr. Deschenes could not work as a police officer and continue his disability benefits but that there would be no offset to his pension if he worked in another capacity.  She requested that Attorney Farrell contact her by phone to discuss any other questions.  She advised that any benefit determination and survivor options would have to be obtained from the actuaries.

The Board noted that the next regularly scheduled meeting is July 24, 2014.

Mr. Deschenes completed the HIPPA release and submitted it to Ms. Eaton.

III.       ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Kowalski moved to adjourn at 11:00 am.  Sgt. Casey seconded.  Motion carried unanimously.
