I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ms. Deratany Goldfarb called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.

II. APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES
Minutes 10-01; October 22, 2012
Mr. Michelson moved to approve the minutes with corrections. Mr. Dunn and Mr. Gott seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. TOWN HALL REPORT – MR. CASSEDY
Holiday Lights
Nine of the lights were tested with a result of four that were fixed and five need maintenance.

Orlando Park
Small tots swing has rust on the chains. Sleeves have been installed to cover to chains and hide the rust.

Orlando Park
A request for the State to roll-over the FY-12 Orlando Park improvement FRDAP grant was submitted for consideration. The project consists of adding play items and providing improved pedestrian access at the northeast and southeast corners of the park.

Tampa Crossover
Public Works personnel have replaced the steps and stringers. Plans have been received for widening to include a seating area approximately 4’x8’ along the south side of the top of the crossover for an estimated cost of $500 for materials with Public Works personnel completing the work in 2 to 3 weeks. Council will consider the widening effort as well as provide a walkway of pavers from the crossover to the paved driving area. The estimated cost to purchase the pavers and have them installed is less than the cost for a concrete walkway.

Parking Enforcement
The Gem Car has been replaced with a slow speed vehicle.

Boardwalk
The boardwalk deck including the southernmost access has been completed.
Nance Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park
The yellow lines for parking spaces have been repainted.

Gus Carey Park
To be scheduled, to remove and trim back vegetation.

IV. BEAUTIFICATION
Status of Beautification Award sign-
Mr. Michelson will remove the sign from 245 Second Avenue, and place it at 330 Ormond Drive. The sign will remain at the current location until arrangements have been made to relocate the sign. Nominations for the next location will be brought before the committee at the next scheduled meeting.

V. PARKS
Orlando Park – Brooke Deratany Goldfarb-
No complaints.

Dewey Park & Wavecrest Extension Park- Anne Mayer
Not present.

Indian River Park & Tradewinds Park – Catherine Berkman
Indian River Park- no complaints.
Tradewinds Park- suggested having mulch to cover-up some area.

Nance Park, Sunrise Park & Sunset Park – Bernie Gott
Sunrise- fill hole northeast corner of parking spaces.
Sunset- construction for new residence to the south, a water line on our property? Requesting survey pegs/markers/flags installed.

Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park – Larry Michelson
No complaints.

Douglas Park & Riverside Park – Dick Dunn & JoAnne Nadeau
Douglas Park- the Garden Club has been maintaining the park.
Riverside Park- no complaints.

Gus Carey Park & Sea Park – Marge Schwanbeck
Gus Carey- no complaints and it looks good.
Sea Park- work in progress.

Improvement Plan for Area Parks-JoAnne Nadeau
Ms. Nadeau would like to proceed with the Improvement Plan for Indialantic Parks, which was provided to the Committee at the 03/26/12 meeting.

Dewey Park
Trim sea grape along the southeast corner to allow palm tree room to grow.

Wavecrest/ Beach Park
Remove invasive vine from dune plantings in the area from Ninth Avenue to Tenth Avenue.

Tradewinds Park
Continue efforts to keep invasive vine from growing in large bougainvillea shrubs.
Remove small carrot wood tree.

Lily Park
Tabled till January 28, 2013 meeting. Bench (3 feet) or small round table (4 feet). South side near Gazebo. Five-hundred dollar donation towards Lily Park has been provided to the Garden Club. Mr. Chinault suggested a replacement bench or to relocate the bench.

Tree Lighting Ceremony- Ms. Schwanbeck noted that 12/6/12 has been set with Indialantic Elementary School. Ms. Schwanbeck will arrange the necklaces for the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Ms. Berkman noted that she would contact Starbucks with regard to providing hot chocolate, send a letter to Winn-Dixie to secure cookies, and order necklaces for the choir members. Ms. Mercer contacted Bizzarro’s pizza and they are willing to participate in the event. Ms. Berkman will request the Mayor to speak at the event, and to mention the Holiday Lights Fundraiser event the following night. Ms. Schwanbeck requested for the Committee to arrive around 6:20pm to help setup.

Chairperson
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb will be resigning from the Committee in January 2013.

Holiday Lights Fundraiser- Mr. Dunn noted that those working to raise money to provide holiday lights along Fifth Avenue are planning a fund-raiser (Holiday Festival) in Nance Park for Friday, December 7, 2012 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm with 3 bands, face painting, and antique cars. The group will seek refreshments from a local restaurant and request that local merchants remain open to serve the public that evening. Mr. Dunn requested that the Mayor announce on 12/6/12 that the event will be held on the seventh and that the trailer from Lee’s Wreckers be left an extra day for use by the bands. Long Doggers will be selling hot dogs with all the proceeds being donated to the Fundraiser. Skewers and Around the World Bakery will also participate. Ace Hardware donated a grill for a 50/50 drawing.

It was suggested to post the events through the Nextdoor website.
