I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ms. Deratany Goldfarb called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m.

II. APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES
Minutes 12-02; November 28, 2011
Mr. Gott moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Dunn seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. TOWN HALL REPORT – MR. CASSEDY
Sunrise Park
The bike rack has been installed.

Orlando Park
The Track Ride part, which will cost $509, was ordered. The Public Works Department will maintain maintenance on the equipment.

Tradewinds Terrace/Bahama Beach Club, State Historical Marker
The marker was approved by the State and will be revealed to the public 03/10/12 at 4:00pm during the Town’s 60th Anniversary Celebration.

Beach Parking Permit
Members of Town boards and committees and councilmembers: Two permits per household free. Full-
time and regular part-time employees of the Town: one permit per employee free. Town residents and
non-residents of the Town: $30. Permits issued after May 31st for Town residents and non-residents:
$20. Permits are now able to be used inside Nance Park.

Nance Park Pavilions
As of January 01, 2012 the deposit for each pavilion rental will be $25. January 01, 2012 thru March 31, 2012 the small pavilion rental will be $25 and the large pavilion rental will increased to $35. As of April 01, 2012 the small pavilion rental will increase to $35 and the large pavilion rental will increase to $50. A survey was conducted before Council approved the fee change, and out of 51 rentals during a 12 month period, only 1 Town resident rented the pavilion.

Planters at the Boardwalk
In response to Council’s request of December 20, 2011 (agenda item VIII-A), the Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Committee is recommending that the Town utilize any available paving stones to expand the paver area in the future to run from Access #6 to Access #8, maintain the color white on the planters to ensure contrast, and provide appropriate plants for the planters.

Banners on 5th
In response to Council’s request of December 20, 2011 (agenda item IX-B), the Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Committee is recommending that the Town provide some form of recognition to the winter holiday season and this take the form of cost effective decoration(s)/display(s) in Douglas Park and a banner behind the turtle sign in the Fifth Avenue median east of SR-A1A. The Committee will pursue structuring this recommendation in the coming months.

IV. BEAUTIFICATION
Status of Beautification Award sign
Current location is at the residence of 1110 South Ramona Avenue. Ms Mayer nominated 201 Fourth Avenue. Ms. Nadeau seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Ms. Mercer will send a letter to the property owner advising of the Committee’s decision. The sign will remain at the current location until arrangements have been made to relocate the sign. Nominations for the next location will be brought before the committee at the next scheduled meeting.

Nance Park, Sunrise Park & Sunset Park – Bernie Gott
Sunrise Park- The new bike rack is noticed to be used often.
Sunset Park- No complaints.

Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park – Larry Michelson
No complaints.

Douglas Park & Riverside Park – Dick Dunn & JoAnne Nadeau
No complaints.

Gus Carey Park & Sea Park – Marge Schwanbeck
No complaints.

Tradewinds Park- Ms Nadeau commented on the fact that Public Works personnel removed the dead trees within the park.

Lily Park- Ms Nadeau commented on the fact that the park is being over watered. The park should only be watered one day a week, not two. The question was brought up regarding the park being fertilized. The Garden Club by the Sea would like the park not to be fertilized.

VI. RECREATION
Fifth Annual Indialantic Witch Way 5K, Saturday, October 13, 2012 or TBA
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb advised that the date is set for Saturday, October 13,2012. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb will be contacting The Running Zone to see if another date of Saturday, October 20, 2012 is available for the event.

Holiday Tree Lighting, December 1, 2011 @ 7:00pm
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb noted that Starbucks donated three (3) hot chocolate containers along with cups. Only two (2) were donated, but another one was needed. Winn Dixie donated three hundred (300) cookies. The glow-in-the-dark necklaces were not of quality as the previous years. Ms. Berkman purchased napkins. Mayor Berkman made the announcements during the event. Members met in Nance Park at 6:30pm. Set-up time was changed to 6:45pm, to set-up while the students are performing.

Winter Holiday Decoration Contest
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb advised that the few complaints of businesses were the fact that they were being excluded from the event, due to not being located on Fifth Avenue. If the event should occur this holiday season, the all businesses should be included. Signs will be collected and stored for later usage. The event should be focused more around Town spirit. Mr. Chinault suggested a letter be mailed with the Business Tax Receipt renewal notices, which are mail in August and then follow up within the holiday season.

VII. OTHER
Mr. Dunn announced that the 60th Anniversary Celebration Committee will have a meeting on Thursday, February 02, 2012 at 6:00pm in the Council Chambers for volunteers.
