I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Ms. Deratany Goldfarb called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m.

II. APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES
Minutes 11-07; May 23, 2011
Mr. Michelson moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Gott seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. TOWN HALL REPORT – MR. CASSEDY
Holiday Decorations for Fifth Avenue/ SR500
The decorations have been canceled due to the lack of funding. Clark Sales Display, Inc. has agreed to cancel the order submitted for this year, and to have the Town’s account remain active for the following two (2) years per the contract.

Orlando Park
Horizontal Ladder installed. Smitty’s Welding Shop assembled the product.

Nance Park
Broken tot swing reported.

Pavers
Removing current pavers, which will be replaced with the new engraved pavers.

Melbourne Causeway
Almost completed.

Mowing & Landscape Maintenance
Greener Pastures was awarded the mowing & landscape maintenance bid. The new three (3) year contract, which can be extended for an additional two (2) years, will begin October 01, 2011.

Budget; October 01, 2011 – September 30, 2012
Council approved 572-4900 $2,000.00 (for egg hunt and tree lighting ceremony)
With the use of the shorter tree in Nance Park during the holiday season, the Town will save $482.00.
572-9200 $14,464.00 reserved for projects/WW5K.

Winter Holiday Decoration Contest
A letter will be mailed to businesses within the Town regarding the contest. The contest will begin the weekend of Thanksgiving and run thru the week of December 05, 2011. See attachment of letter mailed.

IV. BEAUTIFICATION
Status of Beautification Award sign
Current location is at the residence of 102 Tradewinds Terrace. Ms. Mayer nominated 230 Melbourne Avenue. Mr. Michelson seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Ms. Twitty-Mercer will send a letter to the property owner advising the decision of the Committee. The sign will remain at the current location until arrangements have been made to relocate the sign. Nominations for the next location will be brought before the committee at the next scheduled meeting.

V. PARKS
Orlando Park – Brooke Deratany Goldfarb
Tested the Horizontal Ladder with success.

Orlando Park (FRDAP): Mr. Chinault noted that he resubmitted the application for processing.

Dewey Park & Wavecrest Extension Park- Anne Mayer
Dewey Park- grass is dead. As of October 01, 2011, the Public Works Department will maintain the park.

Indian River Park & Tradewinds Park – Catherine Berkman
No complaints.

Nance Park, Sunrise Park & Sunset Park – Bernie Gott
Sunrise Park- bike rack needs maintenance work.
Sunset Park- large palm leaves dead on the ground.

Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park – Larry Michelson
No complaints.

Douglas Park & Riverside Park – Dick Dunn & JoAnne Nadeau
Douglas Park- made note of the three (3) East Palatka Holly trees that were placed by FDOT, eastern end near the water fountain.

Gus Carey Park & Sea Park – Marge Schwanbeck
Not present.
VI. RECREATION
Fourth Annual Witch Way 5K, Saturday, October 15, 2011 @ 6:30 p.m.
Eight hundred and twenty-five (825) t-shirts have been ordered for the event. The possibility of selling leftover t-shirts at the Town Halloween festival is an option. Four (4) portable toilets will be delivered for the event. Two (2) at Nance Park and two (2) at Path Plaza. Ms. Goldfarb will purchase hand sanitizers for each unit. Long Doggers will provide beer, soda, hot dogs, bounce house, hula dancers and steel drums. The businesses in the shopping center will participate with trick-or-treating treats within the individual locations. Premiere Oaks 10 Movie Theater has an advertisement on the movie screens before a movie starts. Mr. Michelson contacted News 13. October 12th or 13th, race bags will be stuffed at the Running Zone location. October 6th is the deadline for items to be placed in the bags to be dropped off at Town Hall.

Holiday Tree Lighting, December 1, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Berkman will contact Starbucks regarding them providing coffee and hot chocolate. Ms. Berkman will also order glow-in-the-dark necklaces for the event. Ms. Schwanbeck will contact the Police Department and Fire Department regarding their participation in the event. Members are to meet in Nance Park at 6:15pm. for setup.
