I. Call to Order
Chairperson Ms. Deratany Goldfarb called the meeting to order at 9:14 a.m.

II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 10-09; August 23, 2010
Ms. Mayer made a comment that “Orlando” was spelled wrong. Ms. Twitty-Mercer will correct the spelling on the minutes.
FRDAP Orland Park
The FRDAP application process is to open September 15, 2010. Staff expects to apply for $50,000.00, for improvements to Orlando Park similar to those Council approved last year. The application is intended to provide improved park access at the northeast and southeast corners of the park plus additional picnic tables and play equipment. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to apply for the FRDAP application. Ms. Berkman seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Michelson moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. Town Hall Report –Mr. Cassedy
Holiday Decorations for Fifth Avenue/ SR500
Fourteen (14) Double Poinsettias and fourteen (14) Bells were ordered as decorations.

Douglas Park
The swing next to the gazebo was removed due to rust. The swing will not be replaced at this time.

IV. Beautification
Status of Beautification Award sign
Current location is at the business of Scott’s on Fifth, 141 Fifth Avenue. Ms. Berkman and Mr. Michelson suggested Physical Addictions, 200 South Miramar Avenue. Ms. Twitty-Mercer will mail a letter to the business and property owner of the notification. Mr. Michelson will remove the sign from 141 Fifth Avenue and place it at the new location. The sign will remain on the property until late November.

Nominations for the next location will be brought before the committee at the next scheduled meeting.

Along the boardwalk, South of Wendy’s Restaurant, there are boards that are loose and worn.

Dewey Park, Gus Carey Park & Sea Park – Marge Schwanbeck

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb asked Mr. Chinault about costs to replace the boardwalk which Mr. Chinault noted as being between 30 and 40 thousand dollars.

Ms. Mayer will ask other non-profit organizations about board, supplies, etc.

VI. Recreation
Third Annual Witch Way 5K, Saturday, October 23, 2010 @ 6:00 p.m.
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb advised that the sponsorships are near $10,000. This year, a trim cost for paper products was reduced. The WW5K Committee will be meeting every Tuesday morning in the Council Chambers at 9:00 a.m. until the event. Mr. Michelson questioned if monies from the race could be spent on the boardwalk area. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb suggested in the future, having the race without an entity with which to share the net revenue, and then the Town could keep all the monies.

Mr. Chinault reminded the Committee about having the Humane Society as a sponsor in the near future.

Ms. Berkman advised that Mayor Berkman and Deputy Mayor Goldfarb informed runners of the WW5K at the Turtle Krawl 5K Run/Walk which was held, Saturday, September 18, 2010, 7:30 a.m. at Nance Park, and at the Long Doggers Run.

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb advised member to pick up posters at Town Hall to promote the WW5K.

Mr. Michelson is in the process of contacting businesses along Fifth Avenue for the WW5K trick-or-treating event.

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb asked Mr. Chinault if the Police Department would be participating in the Fifth Avenue trick-or-treating event the night of the WW5K. Mr. Chinault will look into the situation with the Police Department. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb also wanted to know if manpower was available to cross-pedestrians at Fifth Avenue & Palm Avenues between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Mr. Chinault will look into the situation as well as far as the cost.

Holiday Tree Lighting, December 2, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Schwanbeck contacted the Police Department and Indialantic Elementary School to make them aware of the date and time of the event. Ms. Berkman will contact Starbucks Coffee that has a new manager, and ask for donations. Mr. Chinault advised that account 572-4900 has $2,300.00 for the Committee’s events, which estimates about $600.00 for the Easter Egg Hunt, $580.00 for movie night/concerts in the park and about $1,120.00 for the Holiday Tree Lighting which includes cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, lift, necklaces, replacement lights, Santa suit dry cleaning. The Committee agreed that three (3) hot chocolates from Starbucks should be purchased/donated. Ms. Berkman will contact Winn Dixie regarding donations of cookie trays. Ms. Schwanbeck will purchase napkins, and provide the Santa hats, music and tablecloths. Mr. Cassedy will provide three (3) tables and have them set up for the event.

VII. Other
Indialantic Ocean Beach Park
Mr. Chinault advised the Committee that the County Tourism and Health First would be making a video in the area of the park.

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb will not be attending the next scheduled meeting of October 25, 2010 and will be marked excused. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb appointed Ms. Berkman to conduct the meeting if Ms. Henderson should be absent for the meeting.
