1. CALL TO ORDER AT 5:30 PM
Chairperson Laura Lewandowski called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.

2. APPROVAL OF PRIOR MEETING MINUTES
A. Minutes No 10-04 – August 25, 2010

Mr. Wright moved to approve Minutes No 10-04 from August 25, 2010. Mr. Dullaghan seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

3. VARIANCE REQUEST

A. A variance is being filed by Interstate Signcrafters, Inc. on behalf of TD Bank, N.A., owner, regarding Lots 8 to 10, 14 to 19, Blk. 8 Exc W 4 ft of Lots 8 & 19, 417 Fifth Avenue, Indialantic, FL 32903. A variance is being requested to Code Section 17-106.4(6)(c)(1) – Attached and painted (on the building surface) signs

Nadine Austerfield, representative for Interstate Signcrafters, Inc., noted a variance is being requested for safety reasons due to the drive coming up quick and drivers slamming on their brakes to make the turn. If the sign was there than they would have time to slow down to make the turn without causing traffic issues.

Mr. Justice moved to find the variance request a practical difficulty and approve a sign up to 20 square feet with illumination to be installed on the west side elevation of the building. Mr. Wright seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

B. A variance is being filed by the Surf Gallery, regarding Lots 9-20, Blk 26, 100 Fifth Avenue, Indialantic, Florida 32903. A variance is being requested to Code Section 17-106.4(6)(d) – Permanent door and window signs.

Micah Madden, owner of the Surf Gallery noted since she has put the lettering up in the window, she has seen an increase in customers. The lettering is white, clean and doesn’t use any energy.

Attorney Gougelman clarified the variance being requested is for 20 square feet to allow up to 28 square feet on the east side of the building. The south side of the building is being requested to have up to 22 square feet, which would allow for an additional 14 square feet.

Mr. Justice moved to find the variance request a practical difficulty and approve the east side of the building to have up to 28 square feet of the lettering and approve the south side of the building to have up to 14 square feet with no illuminated signs in the windows. This variance request will expire on July 31, 2010, at the end of the lease Ms. Madden has with the landlord.

4. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:42 PM.
