I. Call to Order
Chairperson Ms. Berkman called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 10-08; June 28, 2010
Mr. Michelson moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. Town Hall Report –Mr. Cassedy
No report.

IV. Beautification
Status of Beautification Award sign
Current location is at the residence of Cara H. Boyd, 110 Twelfth Avenue. Ms. Berkman suggested Scott’s on Fifth, 141 Fifth Avenue. Ms. Berkman commented on the flowerbed in front of the business. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to approve the location of 141 Fifth Avenue. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Ms. Twitty-Mercer will mail a letter to the business and property owner of the notification. Ms. Berkman will remove the sign from 110 Twelfth Avenue and place it at the new location. The sign will remain on the property until late October. Nominations for the next location will be brought before the committee at the next scheduled meeting.

V. Parks

VI. Recreation
Third Annual Witch Way 5K, Saturday, October 23, 2010 @ 6:00 p.m.
Deputy Mayor Loren Goldfarb spoke on behalf of combining certain efforts of the Town of Indialantic Witch Way 5K and the Turtle Krawl 5K Run/Walk which benefits the Sea Turtle Preservation Society, and which will be held, Saturday, September 18, 2010, 7:30 a.m. at Nance Park. The Sea Turtle Preservation Society would like the Witch Way 5K to advertise their event on the Witch Way 5K website, and they would advertise the Town’s Witch Way 5K on their Facebook.com site. All were in favor, of just a link to the Sea Turtle Preservation Society website from the Town’s Witch Way 5K website. The next scheduled meeting for the Witch Way 5K will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.

Election of Chairperson
Mr. Gott moved to nominate Ms. Deratany Goldfarb as Chairperson. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Election of Vice Chairperson
Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to nominate Ms. Henderson as Vice Chairperson. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Holiday Decorations for Fifth Avenue/ SR500
Mr. Cassedy suggested seven (7) to eight (8) feet decorations with garland. September 01, 2010 is the deadline to opt out of the current contract for not using the company before penalties are effective. The price for the decorations, including repairs is under $4,500.00. Mr. Goldfarb will address the Town Council regarding the expenses for the decorations suggesting the Town Council monthly payroll checks go towards this event. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to underwrite the cost with 572-9200 account funds should Council not support the cost of the lights. Mr. Gott seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Ms. Schwanbeck moved to select the eight (8) foot Snowman and the eight (8) foot Double Poinsettias. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

FRDAP Orland Park
The FRDAP application process is to open September 15, 2010. Staff expects to apply for $50,000.00, for improvements to Orlando Park similar to those Council approved last year. The application is intended to provide improved park access at the northeast and southeast corners of the park plus additional picnic tables and play equipment. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to apply for the FRDAP application. Ms. Berkman seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
