I. Call to Order
Chairperson Ms. Berkman called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.

II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 10-01; October 26, 2009
V. Parks
Bernie Gott- Sunrise Park & Sunset Park
Sunrise Park- No complaints.
Sunset Park- Vehicles parking in the no parking area. Maybe the sign needs to be reworded “no motorized vehicles”.
Beach- Accumulation of litter on the beach.

Ms. Schwanbeck moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Deratany Goldfarb seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. Town Hall Report –Mr. Cassedy
Orlando Park
The seesaw has rust accruing and has been removed/ repaired/ replaced.

Douglas Park
The swing by the gazebo has been refurbished/ repaired/ replaced.

Holiday Decorations for Fifth Avenue/ SR500
The Flame Candles and the Double Poinsettias are being installed starting this date.

IV. Beautification
Status of Beautification Award sign
Ms. Berkman advised that the new location of the sign is at the Platt/Brown residence, 808 North Riverside Drive. Mr. Michelson moved the sign to the newest location. Ms. Berkman suggested the following locations for the next location of the sign.
Doris Y. Lodge & Joseph Vegotsky, 310 South Shannon Avenue
David N. & Sheila Johnson, 151 Deland Avenue
Pamela A. Gatto, 339 Cocoa Avenue

V. Parks
Catherine Berkman- Indian River Park, Tradewinds Park & Nance Park
Nance Park- Ms. Berkman noticed new spigots for the water on/off. Rock garden was weeded and rearranged by Ms. Berkman.

Marge Schwanbeck- Dewey Park, Gus Carey Park & Sea Park
No complaints.

O P E N- Douglas Park
No report.

Brooke Deratany Goldfarb- Orlando Park
Not present.
Nance Park- A Melbourne resident who stated that the bathrooms were not attractive like the other parks in the County approached Ms. Deratany Goldfarb.

Bernie Gott- Sunrise Park & Sunset Park
Sunrise Park- Vehicles parking in the no parking area. Maybe the sign needs to be reworded “no motorized vehicles”. Mr. Cassedy advised that he’s reinforced to the Parking Enforcement Employees to visit the park and enforce the parking issues.
Sunset Park- Boulders in the park. Mr. Cassedy advised that the boulders came from Douglas Park.

Andrea McKoy- Zeppuhar- Riverside Park
Not present.

Larry Michelson- Wavecrest Extension Park, Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach
Park
No complaints.

VI. Recreation
Family Movie Night at Town Hall
Tabled for January 25, 2010 meeting.

Tree Lighting, Thursday, December 03, 2009, 7:00 p.m.
Members are to meet at 6:15 p.m. for setup. Ms. Berkman advised that Winn- Dixie will donate cookies. Starbucks Coffee will donate two hot chocolates and one coffee. Ms. Berkman will purchase napkins. Mayor Berkman will provide the welcoming speech. Ms. Schwanbeck will purchase candy canes for Santa to distribute. Ms. Twitty-Mercer will order neon necklaces for the chorus.

Mr. Cassedy advised the Committee that he went to Lee’s Wrecker Services and thanked the owner in person for the use of the company’s trailers for the many years of service.

VII. Other
Memorial and Location for Betty Preece
Committee members were encouraged to visit Sunset Park and observe the bench. It’s a donated memorial bench. Mr. Cassedy suggested that a park bench, with a memorial plaque and accessible handicapped access be purchased for Nance Park with the price of $433.67.

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to accept Mr. Cassedy’s suggestion. Ms. Schwanbeck seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

Wavecrest Extension Park, Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park
Mr. Michelson questioned the age of the current boardwalk. Mr. Cassedy advised that it was installed about eight years ago.

Tradewinds Park
Mr. Gott will donate vegetation and time. Mr. Cassedy and staff will dig holes for the vegetation. The area of interest is the South West corner. February or March is when this will take place. Painting the wall is also a concern.

Ms. Deratany Goldfarb moved to accept Mr. Gott’s donation. Mr. Michelson seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
