I. Call to Order
Chairperson Ms. Berkman called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.

II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 10-05; March 22, 2010
Mr. Michelson moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Nadeau seconded. Motion carried unanimously.

III. Town Hall Report –Mr. Chinault
Riverside Park Mr. Cassedy advised that there are problems with the lights located on the pier, with a repair cost around $2,000.00 and currently in the process of being fixed.

Orlando Park A damaged bench has repaired.

Orlando Park The FRDAP application for $50,000.00, which was approved by Council, was sent to FDEP on September 01, 2009. The application is intended to provide improved park access at the northeast and southeast corners of the park as well as providing for additional play items. FDEP ranked this project as #10 in a field of 25 Small Projects- Development; however, FDEP did not recommend any money for any project for FY-11.

Sunrise Park A ramp for access to the beach will require a DEP permit.

Sunrise Park Mr. Gott advised Mr. Cassedy that while two people were sitting on a picnic table bench it broke. The post on the north side of the chickee is wobbly. Mr. Cassedy will check the condition of the post. Mr. Gott made a suggestion to put stadium seating in the park.

Beach Re-nourishment Project The project is completed. Touchup on the project is being done along the beach.

Melbourne Causeway Replacing the easternmost relief bridge and the parallel pair of relief bridges, which are east of the Ernest Kouwen-Hoven Bridge on US-192 will be completed October 2011.

SR-A1A Outfall @ Watson Drive The County is trying to secure FDOT approval and FDOT has some alternative plans to consider prior to signing-off on the County’s plans.

IV. Beautification
Status of Beautification Award sign
Ms. Berkman moved the sign to the new location at the residence of Victor S. & Lorraine P. Kostro, 210 Orlando Blvd., prior to this meeting.
Ms. Nadeau suggested 110 Twelfth Avenue, and the house east of N. Ramona Avenue on Second Avenue.

Nominations will be discussed for new locations at the next meeting.

V. Parks
Indian River Park, Tradewinds Park & Nance Park – Catherine Berkman
No complaints.
Tradewinds Park- Ms. Nadeau planted plants on the South side and pulled dead plants and trees. Mr. Gott worked on the North and West side of the park assisting with the cleanup. It’s requested that Public Works water in May and June the newest additions to the park. In the West end of the park, there is yard waste that needs to be removed from the cleanup.

Dewey Park, Gus Carey Park & Sea Park – Marge Schwanbeck
Not present.

Douglas Park & Riverside Park – JoAnne Nadeau
No complaints.

Orlando Park – Brooke Deratany Goldfarb
No complaints.

Sunrise Park & Sunset Park – Bernie Gott
Sunrise Park- Vehicles parking in the no parking area.
Sunset Park- No complaints.

Nance Park – Elaine F. Henderson
Assigned park this date/meeting.

Wavecrest Extension Park, Wavecrest Park & Indialantic Ocean Beach Park – Larry Michelson
Noticed there are no trashcans on the beach across from Wendy’s. Mr. Cassedy advised that the trashcans will be placed in the area soon. The vacant property at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Wavecrest Avenue is in need of maintenance. Mr. Chinault acknowledged the request.

VI. Recreation
Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 27, 2010 @ 9:00 a.m.
Ms. Berkman advised the Committee the event went well with no complaints.

Eastminster Presbyterian Church Family Movie Night, Friday, April 09, 2010 @ 7:00 p.m.
Ms. Berkman, Mr. Michelson and Mr. Gott attended the event. Ms. Berkman advised that about forty people attended the event, which included volunteers. The event was not advertised. The movie that was shown was Shrek (PG, 2001, 90 minutes).

Ms. Berkman suggested the Town co-sponsor the movie Madagascar (PG, 2005, 86 minutes). The Town is able to advertise the event on the marquee. Suggestions of popcorn, hot dogs and water to be served at the event, free of charge. The possibility of water being donated is an option. Restrooms are on site and open to the public. Ms. Nadeau will be out of town for the event. Ms. Henderson advised she will attend the event.

Third Annual Witch Way 5K, Saturday, October 23, 2010 @ 8:00 a.m.
The members are to research ideas for non-profit organizations or other ideas, which the fifty-fifty split of the monies earned will go towards. Mr. Gott will provide information about the Nature Conservancy and the Marine Resources Council.

Mr. Gott provided information about The Nature Conservancy, see attachment.

Suggestions for the fifty-fifty split were The Nature Conservancy, Indian River Lagoon Society, The Humane Society and Brevard Zoo.

May 04, 2010 @ 0800 a meeting will be held in the Town Council Chambers for the WW5K.
