I. Call to Order
Chairperson Marx called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.
II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 09-05; February 03, 2009
Ms. Andren moved to approve the minutes. Ms. Paige seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
III. Report from Chairperson Marx
Ms. Twitty-Mercer provided an e-mail to Ms. Marx regarding the resignation of Ms. Grout (attached).
Ms. Marx advised that the release forms have been resubmitted to the Town’s attorney for review.
IV. Projects
Archive Files
Ms. Andren advised the Committee that Ms. Dunn would be assisting in organizing the
file cabinet located in Town Hall. Ms. Andren and Ms. Dunn will set dates for archiving
and inform the Committee members. Ms. Andren passed out an “Archives Report”
(attached) with a breakdown of the contents of the file cabinet.
Book Project
Ms. Bozeman will be in charge of gathering information for a proposed book regarding
all the information from the Committee.
T-Shirt sales
Ms. Bozeman and Ms. Paige will complete the task for the preparation of the t-shirts as
far as design, ordering, etc. Ms. Bozeman and Ms. Paige will work with Jerry Thomas on
the design(s).
Florida Folklife Workshop
A goal for the Committee is to have a workshop regarding the Florida folklife.
Ms. Marx recommended that Ms. Andren be the contact person for getting
information together. Ms. Andren advised that it would take approximately four to six
months to plan for the event. Ms. Andren suggested around October. Another
suggestion is to have co-sponsorships with other communities and or committees.
Town of Indialantic Historic Building Guide, A Self Guided Tour brochure
Steps for the production of the brochure should take place as followes
1)
identify house address
2)
send letter explaining interest in house and involvement of brochure
3)
photograph house

V. Other
Friday @ Fifth
Friday, April 24, 2009 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Ms. Marx advised the Committee that the
theme this month is Spring Fling featuring plants & “green” products. Ms. Earp advised
that she has just purchased a vintage woman’s bathing suit and can bring it on a
mannequin for display. Ms. Marx would like the members to advise of their availability
for the event to assist with the Town’s brochures to handout, storyboards to be displayed
and possibility of getting some Brevard County historical brochures.

INDIALANTIC HERITAGE COMMITTEE ARCHIVES REPORT Carol Andren March 17, 2009 I met with Committee Chair, Jenifer Marx, on February 23, 2009 to review and evaluate the material in the file cabinet at town hall. Inventory of the File Cabinet (from the top) Drawer 1 Clippings Maps Publications and Newsletters Drawer 2 Oversized Documents and Photos in Legal size File Folders Committee Files Drawer 3 Photos (space available in drawer) Drawer 4 Mary Hayward original scrapbook and cc Notebook of clippings to be filed (check for dates on clippings) New Town Hall Scrapbook Jewell Loring File Very Oversized Documents and Photos As a result of the meeting we agreed to propose the following priorities: 1. Evaluate the external hard drive to check for content and space available. 2. Inventory material not stored in the file cabinet. 3. Pursue a naming protocol for digitized files so that they can be utilized on the town website. 4. Compile on disk the 2007 Photo Contest File (images and consent documents) to save room and make it more easily usable. 5. Find archival page sleeves with pockets for dvds to store appropriate files. 6. Digitize the Douglas scrapbook. Recommended long term work includes: Continue to digitize all clippings and material of historic interest. Obtain all available photos of councils and mayors and digitize them. Evaluate, organize and possibly digitize other files. Check books and publications in the files to see which could be digitized and put on the website. Prepare a book of Indialantic History. Report re the external hard drive. Carl (Andren) and I reviewed the external hard drive. There are 20 GB out of 80 GB remaining. The name of the drive is firelite. Many files were Mac files and not viewable. Basically the drive contains Loren Goldfarb’s files from the town DVD development, Ronnie Constantino’s photo digitizing
of a post card collection and digitizing to date of file material by subject. We were able to view the following folders: postcards view with JPEGS file Ind_HC_Tradewinds view with JPEGS file Ind_HC_Abstract1 view with Raw file Ind_HC_1001Rvside_Article view with JPEGS file Ind_HC_Rvside_Abstract_1 view with JPEGS file Ind_HC_1001Riverside_Abstract_2 view with JPEGS file Ind_HC_1001_Abstract_3 view with JPEGS Under the VIDEO folder I was able to open the script, a cell list (CGlist.doc), and interview transcriptions Also able to open Heritage Video Logs folder. In addition, this is the status of interview material I have been responsible for. Settgast and Poulos interviews of 11/17/08 3 cc of the dvd made (two for Settgast and Poulos, the original dvd and one cc for file) will make a photo image for the file Reich sister interviews of 12/5/2008 5 cc of digital recorder made (2 for the sisters) will have photos of the interview for the files and for the sisters’ copies (cassette left in camera) India’s Interviews (set of 4) 4 cc made of the set to be distributed by Jenifer Marx 1 cc made of the set for the South Brevard Historical Society originals and cc to be delivered to Marx 3/17/2009 Interview of Flo Scott and Dale Gralla completed and available to be filed. It includes: Photo from interview master disk of photos taken 2 cc of interview
