I. Call to Order
Chairperson Marx called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
II. Approval of prior Meeting Minutes
Minutes 08-10; July 15, 2008
Ms. Bozeman motioned to approve the minutes from Meeting 08-10; July 15, 2008. Ms. Sherman seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
III. Report from Chairperson Marx
A. Chairperson Marx spoke with Sgt. Baker and Officer DesChenes to see about the November 2008 gathering.
B. Melbourne Beach
Ms. Andren, Chairperson Marx and Ms. Bruffey all met to discuss the Melbourne Beach/ Indialantic display for September 2008. The opening day is September 06, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. The display will need to be taken down the last Saturday, September 27, 2008. Chairperson Marx and Ms. Milligan will provide personal items for display. The theme will be from the era of the brochure, late teens and 1920’s. Several committee members will be on hand to provide information of Indialantic. Ms. Andren will contact Melbourne Beach for usage of some items already of display at the building. Ms. Bozeman and Bruffey will contact the newspapers for advertisement. Ms. Bozeman will print invitations and give to Council Members and other significant members of the Town.
The event is in the works for September 2008 at the Melbourne Beach old Town Hall building. The event will have a display of Indialantic. It was suggested at this meeting that committee members be present to sell DVD’s of “Historical Conversations” and “Portrait of a Community” along with postcards and to hand out the “Historic Building Guide” brochure from the Town’s 55th Anniversary Celebration-2007.
C. Linda Page would like to be on the committee.
IV. Projects
A. Potential Interviewee Schedule
Ms. Bruffey will contact the “Pink Lady”.
Ms. Andren provided Mrs. Twitty-Mercer with eight DVD’s (Abbott, Oliphant, Mussler-Robinson, MacNeil, Threadgill, Miller, Ramey and Mussler) to provide in the file cabinet.
Ms. Bozeman will contact Mr. Constantino for interviews in October.
Chairperson Marx and Ms. Bozeman will complete the “Potential Interviewees” list. From there the committee members will contact their designated persons of interest, and figure out whom is willing to be interviewed and if so, send that person the questionnaire.
Chairperson Marx switched Martha Werk with Ms. Sherman for Joanie Holzer-Schirm.
Ms. Dunn will work with Mrs. Twitty-Mercer on the “Master Asset List of Equipment”.
Ms. Bozeman suggested that copies of the DVD be provided to interviewees.
Ms. Bozeman has a list of everyone who has been interviewed. The goal is to have everything on DVD for storage.
B. Archive Files
Ms. Andren advised the committee that archiving has been on vacation for the past few weeks. Ms. Andren has been gathering items to go to Melbourne Beach for the showing of Indialantic. However, today Ms. Andren will be back at 3:30 p.m. to start the archiving process again.
V. Other
A. Sunday, November 16, 2008 is the date set for a meet and greet in the Council Chambers with the Committee members, public and Officer DesChenes. This will be the Show and Tell event official celebration for 2008. Ms. Andren motioned to approve the suggestion. Ms. Bruffey seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
B. Chairperson Marx read postcards that Ms. Quilleux’s mailed from her trip overseas.
C. Ms. Sherman questioned as to the first settlement/ house location in Indialantic. Chairperson Marx and Ms. Bozeman said that it’s unknown at this time.
VI. Items for next Meeting- September 16, 2008 8:00 a.m. (08-12)
November 2008 social event/ show and tell. The name needs to be defined for the event. How to advertise and asking Mrs. Eaton about putting a flyer in the October Indialantic Record.
VII. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
